The Saitek II seems to have the same issue (At least for me) except it's slightly different. The drivers automatically installed on XP seem to work fine with it, but once in a while they'll corrupt themselves and I have to remove the 'USB Human Interface Device' entries in the Device Manager that are attached to the Saitek II. On the same note, plugging it into another USB port has it install the drivers ALL OVER AGAIN for that specific USB port.

Why this is I don't know, but it could be near identical to your problem - I just chalk it up to slightly flawed design. First I would check to see if the drivers are corrupt (They have a! Icon next to them in the Device Manager and say Saitek II Eclipse Keyboard in the properties. For you, since you have the first one, should just read Saitek Eclipse Keyboard I would imagine.) if they are, REMOVE ALL instances of what I just mentioned from the Device Manager, then have it install them again, by restarting or going over to the Add New Hardware wizard. If not, try and remove them anyway and have them reinstall using the above method. If you keep changing the USB port for the keyboard, then I'd hate to tell you this but it looks like that was intended behavior - for whatever odd reason. It turns out that on some of the older Eclipse keyboards, they used the same hardware as their gaming keyboard which was an Eclipse that came with that little 9 to 12 key keypad attached, that little keypad required additional drivers to configure and run.

That's what Windows is trying to figure out, what do I do with this extra thing that 'should be there because the hardware tells me it's there' but it isn't. I had done an e-mail session with Saitek support when my keyboard was acting strange in some games or the keypad was coming up in the SST configuration software for my Saitek Cyborg Evo when it wasn't connected. That was the reason I was given, was the same hardware issue. There were some values you can disable in Device Manager under HID's, don't remember which ones though.

I remember you cancel one ore two and the rest end up being cancelled in consequence, you're left with one or two entries. It's easy to figure out my trial and error, if you disable one them and your keyboard stops working, turn it back on.

If you turn it off and your keyboard is still working, it was most likely an entry for the extra hardware, just watch out because one of them can be turned off and your keyboard still works, but you lose volume controls. I hope that makes sense.
